MAXsupport

Our mission at the Maxwell Centre is to empower individuals to improve their quality of life. To this end, we facilitate a range of groups, courses, and services to meet our community's needs, addressing the root causes of poverty and preventing crises.
We pioneer and test new ways to support our community, we were the first to adopt the Cash First approach and provide numerous opportunities for social bridging. It's important to us to provide a well trusted and caring space for people in our neighbourhood to lead on its renewal and remove barriers to participation.
In this section, you'll find information about our projects, activities, and the support we offer. Use the buttons below to quickly navigate to each section:

Cosy Corner
A cosy welcome awaits you at our Cosy Corner! A chance to meet others, do jigsaws, puzzles or crafts, read a book, newspaper or magazine and enjoy a hot drink and snacks. There will always be a warm welcome and someone to chat to. We also have the Health Inclusion Nursing team in every 2nd Wednesday for health advice. Everyone is welcome, children must have an adult with them and there is no need to book.

Community Walking Group and Snap & Chat
Community Walking Group
In partnership with the Community Health Team, a weekly walk around the Hilltown park to enjoy the area and improve our health. We meet at the centre to begin the walk at 10.45am and we enjoy a cup of tea and a blether inside afterwards. All welcome, this is a very gentle walk around the local park and suitable for all abilities.
Snap & Chat
Join us for a walk around the Coldside area, taking photos on a different weekly theme. Our aim is to discover our local community in a different way and showcase our work in seasonal exhibitions. Then we head back to the centre for some refreshments and a chat. We go out in all weathers, so dress appropriately! No experience or skills needed, just a phone or camera to take pictures with.

Public Diners project
We are working in partnership with Nourish Scotland to support their first public diner project in Scotland. We have recruited community researchers to understand local "food worlds" and we'll be working with different demographic groups to help shape the Dundee Diner and reduce dietary inequalities.

Please only take 4 items – if more food is needed please speak to our support worker who can help with this.

On the last Thursday of every month, we invite older community members to the centre, where our Youth Cook Group cook a two course meal for them. Incorporating our garden produce and support from local shops, 20 diners join us for nutritious food, activities and socialising. Please call the centre for further information.
